What you need to know
- Parking booking required all fall for the inner lot where the short loop starts, so book before you drive out
- No strollers: the paths are uneven and steep in places, so bring a carrier or come with walkers
- A full-day trip from Madrid, about 2 hours 15 minutes each way by car
About
Tejera Negra is a beech forest in the Sierra Norte de Guadalajara, where the leaves turn gold, orange and red in fall. The long Senda del Robledal starts at the visitor center. The shorter Senda de Carretas starts at an inner parking lot and winds through the beeches past a meadow that makes a good rest stop.
It suits kids who can hike several kilometers on rough ground.
