How early should we arrive?

Booked places are held until 15 minutes before the start. After that, entry isn't guaranteed, so aim to be there by 11:45am.

Can we see the altar the same day?

Yes, it's in the same building and free. On Saturday afternoons the altar is shown on 20-minute guided tours: book through the Casa de México Friday newsletter or join the walk-in line, space permitting.

About

A family workshop at Casa de México where kids and parents make papel picado, the cut-paper banners that hang at every Mexican fiesta, plus paper versions of the orange marigolds that cover Day of the Dead altars. You hear how families mark the day across Mexico, then take the decorations home for your own altar. Led by paper artists Diana Ramírez and Andrea Guerrero.
