What you need to know
- Family shows in two parks: clowns, circus, acrobats and giant puppets at Parque de Santander and the Vista Alegre palace gardens
- Free kids' races on Sunday, Oct 11, ages 2 to 16 at Puente del Rey; sign up online ahead, there is no same-day entry
- Two lunchtime concerts: Nat Simons (Saturday) and Marta Sánchez (Sunday) play Plaza de España at 1pm; the big evening shows start at 8pm or later
About
Madrid's yearly festival of Spanish-speaking cultures, with the United States as guest country this time. Most of it is outdoors: big Latin and pop concerts in the main squares, flamenco and dance, and clowns, circus, acrobats and giant puppets for families in two city parks. Kids who like music and street shows get the most from it; the talks and exhibitions suit older kids and adults.
