What do kids get to see?

The route starts up the lion steps, passes an original 1812 Constitution and the painted Hall of Lost Steps, then enters the Hemicycle with its fan-shaped skylight. At the June open days there were also interactive games about Spain since 1977.

Can we visit outside the open days?

Yes. The Congreso runs guided visits for individuals on Fridays at noon and on Saturday mornings, booked online on congreso.es.

Do kids need their own booking?

No. The adult who books adds up to three more adults and the accompanying kids under 14 on the same form.

Book a time slot online: slots go fast, and only over-65s (plus one companion) can walk in without one
One booking covers a family: up to three extra adults and kids under 14
Doors 9:30am to 7pm at the last open days, so a Saturday slot is easy to fit around lunch

A few days a year, Spain's parliament lets the public in for free. Visitors climb the steps between the bronze lions and follow a set route: an original copy of the 1812 Constitution, the domed Hall of Lost Steps, then the Hemicycle, where the 350 deputies debate and vote. It suits school-age kids who have heard of parliament and want to see where it happens.
